The presence of an ever expanding Arabic population in the UK and its inevitable exposure to drug use and abuse has lead to some members of the Arabic community in London to realise the necessity of establishing a voluntary organisation capable of working among the members of that community, particularly the youth in the field of drug use/abuse and prevention.

It has been decided to call this organisation

Arab National Council Against Addiction and Narcotics
“A.N.C.A.A.N.”

The word ANCAAN that means Human Being in Arabic reflects the concern of the organisation, on the matters related to the well-being of the Arabic community in the UK.
